Cockroaches are insects from the order Blattoptera. In the USSR, about 50 species were known; Of greatest practical interest are the Blatta orientalis — the black cockroach (Fig. 1) and the Blattella germanica — the red cockroach, or prusac (Fig. 2). Cockroaches most often populate uncomfortable dwellings, as well as dining rooms, kitchens, bakeries, etc .; during the day they hide in the cracks of buildings, crawl out at night in search of food and drink. They feed on flour products, meat, vegetables and organic garbage. Crawling with the garbage on the food of people, pollute it, can carry pathogens of intestinal and other infections, eggs of parasitic worms.
To prevent the appearance and resettlement of cockroaches, it is necessary to maintain cleanliness in the rooms, kitchens, shops, food enterprises, to monitor their sanitary condition.

How to get rid of cockroaches
For the extermination of cockroaches used bread bait moistened with 1.5% aqueous solution of chlorophos or a mixture of 0.5-1% aqueous solution of chlorophos and ammonium carbonate. It is recommended to irrigate the places of possible accumulation of cockroaches in the premises with 3% aqueous solution of chlorophos in the amount of 50-100 ml / m 2 (depending on the ability of the surface to absorb moisture). Also effective is 5% methyl acetate (10–20 g / l.2). In places of accumulation of cockroaches, it is recommended to pour a thin layer of boric acid or treat them with insecticide aerosols intended to kill non-flightless insects.
