Teratoma is an embryonic malignant tumor of the testicle, can develop already in infancy and lead to premature sexual development (see).
Treatment is prompt. The prognosis is unfavorable.
Teratoma - a tumor of complex structure, resulting from a violation of embryonic development. The causes of teratoma are not clear.
Mature teratomas can be of various sizes, have an irregularly rounded or oval shape, have a smooth or hilly surface, and are well defined; their consistency is different; on the incision often have a cystic appearance. Histological examination reveals tissues of different origin: epithelial , connective, nervous, muscular, etc.
Teratoma usually develops in early childhood or young age; growing slowly. Depending on the localization of teratoma, there is a different clinical picture. Localization: most often - the sacrococcygeal area, then the mediastinum , retroperitoneal space, ovaries and testicles, skin, soft tissues, etc. Malignant transformation is rarely observed.
Immature teratoma (teratoblastoma) has the form of nodes motley view of the incision. Histologically, it consists of various immature tissues and, in contrast to mature teratomas, has all the properties of malignant tumors. It occurs mainly in men under 40 years. Localized in the mediastinum, testicles, retroperitoneal space. It grows quickly and gives extensive metastases to the lymph nodes and lungs.
The treatment is surgical.
