Theophylline (Theophyllinum; List B ) is an alkaloid contained in tea leaves and coffee beans; antispasmodic. Expands coronary vessels and bronchi, stimulates the central nervous system, has a diuretic effect. Theophylline is used for coronary insufficiency and bronchial asthma by mouth or per rectum in the form of suppositories 0.1-0.2 g 3-4 times a day. Higher doses: single 0.4 g, daily 1-2 g. When using theophylline, side effects are possible: heartburn, vomiting , diarrhea , headache, convulsions . Product: powder. It is a part of euphyllinum (see), teofedrin and antasman.
