Go Thoracoplasty


Thoracoplasty is the operation of removing all or several ribs on one side of the chest in order to cause retraction of the chest wall. Thoracoplasty is performed with and without opening of the pleura (intrapleural and extrapleural thoracoplasty). Indication: cavernous forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic pleural empyema . Thoracoplasty is performed under local anesthesia or under intratracheal anesthesia.
