Desmoid (synonym for desmoid fibroma ) is a tumor that originates from intermuscular connective tissue , aponeuroses and fascia . Desmoid is a single, dense, painless tumor, located most often in the lower parts of the abdominal wall. When straining the muscles of the abdominal press, the tumor is felt more clearly; tumors of the abdominal cavity under such conditions are not determined. According to the clinical course, the desmoid occupies an intermediate position between the benign fibroma and malignant fibrosarcoma, since it can recur. Treatment is surgical.
