Dicainum (Dicainum; List A ) is a local anesthetic. By activity and toxicity exceeds cocaine (see). Used for surface anesthesia in ophthalmology (0.1-2% solutions) and otorhinolaryngology (1-2% solutions). The highest single dose for anesthesia of the upper respiratory tract 0.09 g. Due to the high toxicity dikain should be used with caution. Children under 10 years of anesthesia dikain not produce. For epidural anesthesia, a 0.3% solution is used; the highest single dose of 0.075 g. Form release: powder. See also Anesthetics.
