Diosponin (Diosponinum, list B ) is an anticholesterolemic remedy, a dry, purified extract from rhizomes and roots of Caucasian dioscorea. Diosponin is used to treat atherosclerosis by mouth at 0,05-0,1 g 2 times a day (after eating) for 10 days, then a break for 4-5 days. The course of treatment is 3-6 months. When taking diosponin, there may be increased sweating, catarrhal phenomena in the upper respiratory tract, intestinal bowel disorders. In such cases, the dose should be reduced or discontinued use of the drug. Form release: tablets of 0.1 g. See also anti-cholesterolemic agents.
